Commodore 64 and Amiga: The Home Computer Revolution
Why the C64 and Amiga shaped generations of players, programmers, composers and indie creators.

The computer as a creative tool
The Commodore 64 launched in 1982, bringing distinctive graphics and the SID sound chip into homes. The Amiga family arrived in 1985 and later became closely associated with colorful graphics, sampled audio and an active European games scene.
From playing to making
Home computers encouraged players to type programs, edit graphics, experiment with music and share software. That culture helped blur the boundary between audience and creator. Hardware constraints encouraged clever routines and bold visual decisions.
A living heritage
The modern independent scene inherits the idea that a small team can build something personal. At Pause Play Games, based in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, we value that hands-on experimentation and pair retro-inspired development with original soundtracks from Maupiti Studios.
